What a privilege it is to work with students whose brains are so diverse. These talented, gifted children complete our communities.

I started teaching at a high school level. After teaching for four years, my passion to empower students on the margins led me to postgraduate studies in special education. To assist those in need, I added a qualification in counseling to supplement my undergraduate psychology degree.

In 2006 I co-published a book on Learning Options to support and empower parents with children who learn differently. Experience across different age groups, inclusive and specialised schools, school readiness, and private work led me to literacy intervention. When children do not learn to read, we have to change the way we teach.

In 2013 I started working at CDN as a Literacy specialist. This has given me the opportunity to work within a team to support children and their parents in accessing an evidence-based literacy intervention program. Every student is an individual with specific needs that are responded to clinically using researched and successful strategies. It is a privilege to be part of a child-centred team.
