brainHQ

brainHQ is another brain training tool that we use at CDN. It can be used to develop specific areas of executive function such as attention control and memory and also as a tool to develop life skills such navigation and people skills.
The program has been developed by neuroscientists and has a large number of internal and peer-reviewed studies conducted on it. At CDN we have found that when a training regime is developed and agreed upon by the student, family and coach, the outcomes are more positive. Whilst the program does not insist upon it, we have also found that there are better outcomes for those students who are supervised and supported for the duration of the training.
We recommend the Vektor training for the following reasons:
- The brainHQ program has a greater number of challenges that have been specifically designed to develop verbal short term and verbal working memory. The development of these skills can be relevant for students who struggle in literacy.
- Some students find the greater choice of activities and pathways more motivating in the brainHQ training.
- Some of the activities are specific to different stages in an individual’s life. For example, good engagement in the Navigation exercises has the potential to develop the visuospatial skills of a learner driver. Similarly, the Brain Speed tasks have the potential to further develop an individual’s processing speed in learning.
- Nowadays there is a strong sense that brain training, similar to physical exercise, should be a life long commitment. brainHQ has tasks available for all age levels, using a variety of different devices. More many individuals and families, the brainHQ training becomes a part of their daily routine
